Prep schedule, Friday’s game
Redlands (2-7, 1-3) at Rialto Carter (4-5, 2-2), 7 p.m.: With a CIF playoff berth on the line, the Lions will be motivated against the Terriers in Carter’s last CBL game (re-leagued beginning next year). Redlands must contend with Salabaj and RB Gustavo Lopez (1,185 yards), all eight of his TDs this season coming in the past three games.
Citrus Valley (8-1, 3-1) vs. Redlands East Valley (0-9, 0-4) at Redlands High School, 7 p.m.: Expect that the Blackhawks will make it a total of eight games in which they reached running clock status -- 35-point lead heading into the fourth quarter -- after back-to-back weeks of full-clocked matchups against Carter and Cajon.
Arrowhead Christian Academy (4-5, 2-2) at Ontario Christian (7-2, 3-1), 7 p.m.: There are faint hopes of a CIF Division 12 playoff berth with an Eagles’ victory; truth is, there are plenty of teams to leapfrog in grabbing one of those 16-team berths. Knights’ coach Matt Hoekstra has his team in position to nab a Div. 11 playoff berth, armed with a trio of ground-breaking threats topped by QB Daniel Serna.
College, Saturday’s game
Cal Lutheran-Thousand Oaks (3-4, 2-2) at University of Redlands (6-1, 4-1), 7 p.m.: Between CLU’s Cesar De Leon and U of R’s Nathan Martinez, there have been 34 TD passes this season, but the Kingsmen’s QB is throwing for over 300 yards a game. Except for last week’s 44-6 thumping by first place Chapman, the Kingsmen have lost three games by five, seven and eight points. Redlands is still second behind the Panthers in SCIAC.
