The Unforgettables Foundation starts 2021 with a golf event honoring two brothers, local anesthesiologists who cared about kids. This may be the first memorial fundraising outing for local charity.

The sixth annual Dr. Sid’s Kids Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, Jan 11, at Tukwet Canyon. The tournament  was created to remember local physician Sidney Torres, who served as a Children’s Hospital anesthesiologist for many years.

Torres was a past board member of the Unforgettables before he died from brain cancer almost 10 years ago. He also was a huge promoter of getting Hispanic students into an educational track that would take them to medical school.

The event was started with the aid of Torres’ lifelong friend and Unforgettables supporter George Vashon of Rosarito, Mexico.

The event will add to its remembrance aspect by adding Torres’ brother, Dr. Sam Torres, who died after a long battle against a chronic condition. Sam Torres two children and other relatives will be volunteers.

Sid Torres was a doctor through the years at medical facilities like Redlands Community Hospital, Beaver Medical Clinic, University Medical (formerly Riverside County Regional) and of course the Anesthesia Department at Loma Linda University Medical Center and Children’s Hospital.

Sam Torres moved down to this area a few years ago from the Portland Adventist Medical Center to join the Loma Linda Department as well.
