Cherniss earns 700th victory: Kim Cherniss, the Cal State San Bernardino women’s volleyball coach, earned her 700th career victory on Saturday, Oct. 16 as the host Coyotes defeated Cal Poly Pomona 25-13, 12-25, 25-17, 25-16. It was a memorable night all the way around for CSUSB women’s volleyball as the 2019 NCAA Division II champion Coyotes received their championship rings. Cherniss has coached the Coyotes for 31 years. Alexis Cardoza led the Coyotes to the victory against Cal Poly Pomona with 17 kills.

Redlands, Yucaipa share golf title: The Redlands and Yucaipa high school girls’ golf teams finished tying for the Citrus Belt League title. The Terriers defeated Cajon last week to finish 11-4 overall and 9-1 in the CBL. Yucaipa had the same league record, with the teams splitting a pair of matches against each other.

Diaz commits to Gauchos: Beaumont High baseball standout Isaiah Diaz has committed to UC-Santa Barbara, tweeted Cougars’ coach Jason Whittle. Diaz, a straight-A student, is an infielder.

Bulldog men’s soccer team wins: The University of Redlands men’s soccer team defeated host California Lutheran on Saturday, Oct. 16. Scoring for the Bulldogs were Collin ChubbFertal in the 64th minute and Arian Mogharei in the 78th minute. The Bulldogs (10-1-1 overall, 6-1-1 conference) are in second place.

Redlands women blank Cal Tech: The University of Redlands women’s soccer team defeated Cal Tech 5-0 on Saturday at Redlands’ Farquar Field. Peyton Fendrich and Eva Vlassopoulos had two goals apiece for Redlands (5-6, 4-4) and Tori Zielinski had one.
