Much appreciation for Phill Courtney’s latest piece. I worry also about our homeless folk.
This cold, rainy week I saw someone huddled under a tarp, clothes hanging over a fence to dry, next morning their sleeping bag also hanging there and the man walking back from an errand wearing only a T-shirt and around his hips, a small fluffy blanket, so his jeans could dry.
Later, another man was pacing and wringing his hands, wearing only Bermuda shorts while his clothes lay over a nearby sign to dry. I hope that in 2021 we can pass state legislation and funds to care properly for our neighbors disabled by mental illnesses.
