Mary Ann Vincent of San Bernardino, an educator for 44 years who earned advanced degrees at the University of Redlands in 1979, died on Sunday, Dec. 18, 2022, after unexpected heart complications. She was 79.
Born on June 12, 1943, in Riverside to Velma and Samuel Payton, she graduated from San Bernardino High School in 1961. She studied education at San Bernardino Valley College before completing her bachelor’s degree at San Diego State University.
She later earned a master’s degree and administrative credential at the U of R.

She married Robert Vincent in July 1967. They had two children, Danielle and Derek.
Early in her career, she taught in Chula Vista and El Centro before serving the San Bernardino City Unified School District at California at Manuel A. Salinas Elementary in San Bernardino for 40 years.
She was an active member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in San Bernardino.
She was a member of the California Retired Teachers Association, enjoyed knitting and volunteered with the San Bernardino Symphony Guild.
Her husband survives her along with sister Kristine Langley; children Danielle and her husband Kyle Griffith, and Derek and his wife Patricia Vincent; and five grandchildren.
