Frank Faxon Jr., a U.S. Army veteran who served with Redlands Mounted Police and A 50-year Redlands resident, died on Dec. 28, 2022. He was 87.

Born on Sept. 1, 1935, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Frank Faxon Sr. and Emilie Faxon of Missouri, he was 7 when his family moved to San Diego. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of San Diego.

After serving in the Army, he moved to Los Angeles and was employed by Texaco.

He met Kathy Nerheim and they were married in 1964.

In 1971, he was transferred to Texaco’s district office in San Bernardino as assistant district manager.

He left Texaco in 1975 to work for Coldwell Banker Realty Center. He retired in 2007.

He enjoyed horseback riding and served with the Redlands Mounted Police.

He loved music, tennis and most of all, boating along the Newport Beach coast in his Boston Whaler.

He is survived by his wife, daughter Emilie McVay; son Frank Faxon III and his wife Michelle; and two grandchildren, Madison McVay of Fullerton and Jessica McVay of Ft. Collins, Colorado.

Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan 24, at the Holy Name of Jesus Church followed by a reception. Burial service will be held at 1 p.m. Hillside Memorial Park.
