Windmills in the San Gorgonio Pass

Mary Grossman of Redlands took this photo of the windmills off Interstate 10, the iconic entrance to Palm Springs. The San Gorgonio Wind Farm is bounded by Mount San Gorgonio, the tallest mountain in Southern California at 11,503, on the north and the San Jacinto Mountains in the south, topped by Mount San Jacinto at 10834 feet. It is one of three major wind farms in California along with Altamont and the Tehachapi passes. Mary says she took the photo with her mobile phone — “of course as a passenger.”
