San Bernardino County sheriff’s detectives have arrested a Running Springs man in connection with the death of a former girlfriend who had been missing for two weeks.
On Monday, May 17, the Twin Peaks station received a report of a missing person, Debra McClanahan, a 50-year-old Running Springs resident. A family member said she had not been seen since Monday, May 3. Deputies launched a missing person investigation, said a press release.
Deputies learned that Alan Perez-Nuñez, 44, is a former boyfriend. He was found living in a tent in the forest off Highway 330. He told deputies he last saw McClanahan, who lived in the 31600 block of Highway 330, on May 3.
On Friday, May 21, investigators confirmed that McClanahan was the victim. Perez- Nuñez was arrested at his campsite on suspicion of the murder of McClanahan.
