A Rialto man was arrested Wednesday morning for firing a BB gun at vehicles on Interstate 10 east of Cedar Avenue, shattering the windshield of one car and damaging others, the CHP reports.
At 10:45 a.m., Inland Communications Center received multiple calls reporting the man, later identified as 29-year-old Devhen Douglas Evans, standing on the shoulder of the westbound lanes pointing what appeared to be a handgun at passing traffic. “He then began firing the weapon, which was later discovered to be a BB gun, at several passing vehicles,” said a press release. “Multiple vehicles were hit, shattering the windshield of one vehicle and exterior body damage to the others.”
California Highway Patrol and other agencies found Evans, who dropped the weapon and attempted to flee on foot. He was immediately taken into custody without further incident.
Evans will face multiple felony charges of 245(a)(1) P.C.-Assault with a deadly weapon.
