Fatal crash on the Boulder Bridge

A horrific wreck resulted in the death of Alicia Amelia Delgado, 24, and left this vehicle up and over the guardrail at the end of the bridge on Boulder Avenue. An extracting tool can be seen at the bottom of the picture.    

Early Friday morning, May 31, Alicia Amelia Delgado, 24, of Redlands died of injuries she sustained during a single vehicle crash on Boulder Avenue Bridge near Jasper Street.

According to a San Bernardino County coroner’s report, deputies were first called to the accident at 5:54 a.m.

Upon arrival the deputies found Delgado unresponsive in the driver’s seat. Cal Fire personnel rendered aid, extracted Delgado from the wrecked car and transported her to Loma Linda University Medical Center where she was pronounced dead at 6:46 a.m.

Southbound traffic on Boulder south of Base Line was closed to traffic much of the day as San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department began its investigation into the crash and later removed the mangled car from Boulder Avenue’s westside sidewalk.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
