In a news release on Jan. 5, the San Bernardino Superior Court stated that all new criminal trials will be suspended through Jan. 27.

However trials in progress will continue.

Civil trials will be on hold until Feb. 22. The courts have asked civil parties to select a tentative date after said date.

The courts will prioritize getting available jurors assigned to criminal cases. Jury trials will be limited to cases that require disposition within specific periods of time. This includes, criminal cases, unlawful detainer jury trials, and civil cases with statutory preference under the California Code of Civil Procedure.

This falls under sections 35 to 37 and civil cases approaching the 5-year deadline under California Code of Procedure sections 583.310 and 583.320.
