A man sprinting across Interstate 215 south of Little League Drive early Monday in San Bernardino was struck and killed by a motorist, the CHP reports.

At 5:38 a.m. on May 20, Robert Farrell, a 59-year-old resident Eugene, Oregon, was driving a white 2016 Freightliner motorhome north in the No. 2 lane of I-215 when it hit the man, a 29-year-old resident of San Bernardino. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is unknown why the man was running in the freeway. His identify is being withheld pending identification and notification of next of kin by the San Bernardino County coroner’s office.
