A 41-year-old San Bernardino man was killed in a construction accident Tuesday afternoon.
The accident was reported at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, near the intersection of Garden Street and Franklin Avenue by a contract construction crew working on a road paving project for the city.
The victim was working on Garden Street in a blind spot behind a loaded gravel truck when the truck backed over him. Redlands firefighter/paramedics responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the San Bernardino County district attorney’s office is investigating the accident. The California Highway Patrol also responded for an investigation of the commercial vehicle.
As a result of the accident, the road repaving project will be delayed until further notice.
