An Arizona woman was arrested Thursday for attempted murder after a delivery driver was shot and hit on the head with a baseball bat.

Shortly after 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 14, Redlands police responded to a call of shots fired in the 1300 block of Stillman Avenue. Arriving officers found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound and other serious injuries.

Police learned that the victim had come to the area to make a delivery. Upon pulling up to the curb she was confronted by a man and woman. The female suspect, later identified as 30-year-old Patricia Alicia Hidalgo of Scottsdale, Ariz. entered the passenger side of the victim’s vehicle, pointed a gun at her and shot her in the leg.

At the same time, the male suspect, described as a Hispanic male wearing a black ski mask and black hooded sweatshirt, opened the driver side door, pulled the victim out of the vehicle and repeatedly struck her on the head with a baseball bat.

Hidalgo briefly tried to flee in the victim’s vehicle before getting out and leaving on foot. She confronted another bystander and pointed the gun at her head before fleeing the area headed southeast.

Officers located Hidalgo a short time later coming out of the Zanja at the Orange Blossom Trail. She was detained and positively identified by witnesses. She was found to be in possession of a loaded semi-automatic handgun.

The male suspect was last seen getting into an older model white or silver Honda sedan.

The victim was treated at the scene by Redlands Fire Department paramedics and taken to the hospital where she was listed in stable condition.

Hidalgo was booked at Central Detention Center in San Bernardino on charges of attempted murder, carjacking and robbery and is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
