Authorities arrested on Thursday, July 4, 41-year-old Jeff Michael Reeder, from Redlands, for allegedly assaulting a San Bernardino County Sheriff officer during an emergency call.

According to authorities, Reeder assaulted a member of the Multiple Enforcement Team at the Highland Police Department around 8:35 p.m., when was approached during a small fire investigation and allegations that he had brandished a firearm to several residents near the 7400 block of Elm Street, in Highland. 

“When the deputies went to speak to Reeder a physical altercation occurred with a deputy. Reeder reached for a loaded handgun concealed inside his waistband. A second deputy was able to grab the handgun and disarm Reeder. Reeder broke free from the deputies and fled on foot but was arrested after a short foot chase through the apartment complex,” stated authorities.

Reeder was booked into the West Valley Detention Center. He faces charges of Resisting an Executive Officer and Assault on a Peace Officer with a Firearm. His bail is set at $50,000 and he is scheduled for arraignment on July 9th in Superior Court in San Bernardino. All charges against Reeder will be sent to the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s office to be reviewed, stated authorities.
