Do you love to garden and want to share your knowledge with your community? If so, consider applying to the University of California Cooperative Extension San Bernardino County Master Gardener program.

Applications close Aug. 31 for the Tuesday evening class which will be conducted from Oct 1 to Feb. 18 in the Redlands area. (The location emailed upon acceptance.) In exchange for receiving 50 hours of training on sustainable landscaping and growing food in home, community and school gardens taught by University of California and other experts, graduates volunteer 50 hours a year back into the program.

Methods of volunteering include answering gardening email and phone helpline questions and making presentations at workshops and community events.

Accepted applicants must pass two open-book exams, present a group project, and pass a background check (approximately $30). The class fee, including training materials, is $175.
