Specialized detectives investigate the death of an inmate at the High Desert Detention Center, in Adelanto, on Tuesday, Oct. 29, the San Bernardino County Sheriff Department said on a press release.
According to authorities, Armando Padilla, who was arrested on 2017 for alleged lewd and lascivious acts with a child, was pronounced dead at the Victor Valley Global Medical Center, in Victorville, at around 10:14 a.m.
Padilla began suffering a medical emergency at around 8 a.m. on the same day and was transported to the hospital, authorities said.
An autopsy will be conducted by the Riverside County Coroner to determine the cause of death, authorities said.
Padilla was also arrested for an alleged assault with a deadly weapon, probation violation and resisting a peace officer, authorities said.
