The 2018 Veterans Day Ceremony. Each year Mick Gallagher invites veterans from each branch to come up in front of the stage to assemble as one massive group.

The seventh annual Redlands Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony will be Monday, Nov. 11.

The parade will begin at 9 a.m. in front of Redlands High School and proceeds along Citrus Avenue to Eureka Street and on to W State Street and N Center Street and finishes on Redlands Boulevard in front of Jennie Davis Park. This year’s parade will be led by a color guard unit from American Legion Post 106 and Post 650, followed by the Kevin R. Blandford Memorial Pipe Band.

The parade will also feature Jacqueline “Jacki” Caron Mortenson, the first female Grand Marshall. Mortenson retired from the Air Force as a Chief Master Sgt. and served the country for nearly 44 years.

The parade will also include entries from the local chapters of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, the Vietnam Veterans Of America and the Marine Corps League. Local clubs including the Redlands Elks, Rotary Club and the crowd pleasing mini cars from the Orange Belt Shrine Club will be there as well.

Three of the 49 parade entries are Redlands middle school marching bands, which will be spread out amongst the classic cars, military and first responder vehicles.

Following the parade there will be a ceremony and celebration in Jennie Davis Park. The ceremony will begin at 10:45 a.m. and will include the posting of colors, a musical salute to the armed forces by the American Bavarian Band, guest speaker Dr. Chris Martin and more. The ceremony will close with a 21-gun salute by the Post 650 Firing Squad and taps.

The celebration in the park will include food vendors, a beer garden, live music and a display of military vehicles from the Norton Air Force Base Museum group.

All veterans and their families are invited to enjoy a free meal at the Fourth Annual Veterans Dinner, held at the Redlands Elks Lodge between 2 and 7 p.m.
