Kyle T. Mays

 The University of Redlands Native Student Programs will welcome Kyle T. Mays, Ph.D., presenting "Afro-Indigeneity: The Meanings and Possibilities for Our Shared Futures" at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23. This public event is free and can be accessed by emailing nativestudentprograms@redlands.edu.

Mays is a black and Saginaw Chippewa scholar of Afro-Indigenous Studies, urban studies, and Indigenous popular culture. He is an assistant professor in the Department of African American Studies, American Indian Studies, and the Department of History at UCLA. He is the author of several books including the forthcoming An Afro-Indigenous History of the United States, and has written for numerous public venues including The Washington Post.
