San Bernardino Community College District trustees hope to select the district’s 15th chancellor by November.

Because of the coronavirus shutdown, the board voted on April 9 extend the recruitment timeline, Chairwoman Anne L. Virecel said in a press release.

“We will keep the application period open through July 17 to appoint a new chancellor in fall 2020,” she said.

By Aug. 31, or as it becomes safe to do so, trustees will invite final candidates to visit the district to share their vision at public forums, meetings with constituents and interviews with the board.

The goal is for new the next chancellor to begin serving on Nov. 1 or as agreed upon by the chancellor-elect and board of trustees.

Founded in 1926, the district operates Crafton Hills College and San Bernardino Valley College, serving 27,000 students in 22 cities, including Redlands.
