Chocolate Fantasy 2019

A scene from last year’s Chocolate Fantasy.

It’s never too early to start preparing for Valentine’s Day and what better way than to have some  chocolate and, perhaps, some champagne?

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Redlands-Riverside will host its 26th annual Chocolate Fantasy signature fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 8, at the historic Mitten Building, 345 N. Fifth St., Redlands. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the event is from 7 to 11 p.m.

The event includes live and silent auctions, a band, a photo booth, free-flowing champagne and a raffle for a Dell Inspiron laptop.

Participating local businesses include the Mitten, Mill Creek Cattle Co., Nothing Bundt Cakes, Old Spaghetti Factory and BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse.

Live auction items include a trip to Ireland, tickets and a trip to see “Hamilton” on Broadway, and dinner at the Rancho Mirage, home of philanthropists Tim and Carol Rochford.

The James Ramos and Rowena Ramirez family, who donated $26,000 in honor of the 26th anniversary, are this year’s sponsors.

Table sponsorships, which start at $1,250 for eight seats, are still available. Individual tickets are $125.

One of the highlights of the night is when attendees vote for Chocolatier of the Year, Restaurant of the Year, and Decorations of the Year. Guests sample savory treats and food items throughout the night and then submit their vote by placing their select voting card in the vendor’s ballot jar located at each table. Winners will be announced at the end of the silent auction.

Last year, Parliament Chocolate won Chocolatier of the Year, the Mitten won Restaurant of the Year, and Chef Erin’s Confections won Decorations of the Year.

The 2019 event generated more than $150,000 for the first time in its history.
